Copper

CRM built specifically for Google Workspace users

What it does

Copper is the CRM built for teams that live in Google Workspace. It installs as a Chrome extension and Gmail sidebar so contacts, deals, and activities update from inside Gmail, Calendar, and Google Meet. Every email a sales rep sends and receives auto-logs to the right contact, meetings sync to activities, and shared pipelines let a small sales team track deals without leaving Gmail. It targets the middle: bigger and more structured than a spreadsheet, smaller and less painful than Salesforce. Recommended by Google itself as a preferred CRM for Workspace.

Key features

Integrates with

Google Workspace, Gmail, Google Calendar, Zapier, Slack

Who this fits

  • Small-mid sales teams (2-30) that live in Gmail all day
  • Agencies, consultancies, and professional services running relationship-driven sales
  • Real estate teams and small brokerages doing referral-heavy business
  • B2B SaaS AE + AM teams under 25 seats
  • Teams that failed at HubSpot/Salesforce adoption because "reps never logged anything" (Copper's Gmail auto-log fixes that)

Who it does NOT fit

  • Solo founders (Streak, HubSpot Free, or Folk are cheaper/simpler)
  • Non-Google-Workspace teams (Copper's whole thesis breaks on Outlook 365)
  • Ecommerce (Klaviyo/Shopify CRM tools fit better)
  • Marketing-led revenue teams needing marketing automation (HubSpot, ActiveCampaign fit better)
  • Enterprises needing complex sales processes, forecasting, and territory management (Salesforce, HubSpot Enterprise)

Pricing

Per-seat, annual billing (Source: SaasCRMReview: https://saascrmreview.com/copper-crm-pricing/): - Basic: $23/seat/mo annual ($29 monthly) — 2,500 contacts, 25 custom fields, basic pipelines, iOS/Android - Professional: $59/seat/mo annual ($69 monthly) — 15,000 contacts, workflow automation, bulk email, reporting - Business: $99/seat/mo annual ($134 monthly) — unlimited contacts, email series, custom reports, SSO, multi-currency - Free 14-day trial, no credit card required - Annual discount 14-26% depending on tier

Real gotchas

  • Contact caps are HARD LIMITS per tier. Basic at 2,500 contacts, Pro at 15,000. Import a big historical contact list and you can immediately need Business (Source: SaasCRMReview: https://saascrmreview.com/copper-crm-pricing/)
  • Copper is Google Workspace-first. Outlook and Microsoft 365 users get a diminished experience — the Gmail sidebar is the product
  • Workflow automation is Pro+ only. Basic is essentially manual data entry with a Gmail sidebar
  • Bulk email is Pro+; SSO and email series (drip sequences) are Business only
  • Reporting is thin compared to HubSpot/Salesforce — good enough for small teams, not for RevOps at scale
  • Marketing automation is essentially not present. Copper is a sales/relationship CRM, not a marketing hub
  • The Chrome extension is polished but can break with Chrome/Gmail updates; check the changelog before mass-deploying updates

Integrations that matter

Native: Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Meet, Contacts, Sheets), Slack, Zoom, DocuSign, Mailchimp, HubSpot, QuickBooks, Xero, Stripe, RingCentral. Zapier + Make for the rest. Native Chrome extension is the primary experience.

Otto’s take on this tool

Recommend Copper when: team is on Google Workspace, business_size is 2-30, and pain is "our reps do not log deals in the CRM." Highest fit for agencies, consultancies, real estate, and B2B SaaS teams under 25 seats. Do NOT recommend for solo (too pricy), Outlook shops, ecommerce, or enterprise. If comparing to HubSpot: HubSpot Free wins if the team is not in Gmail all day; Copper wins on Gmail-native adoption. If comparing to Streak: Streak is cheaper and lives even more inside Gmail but is thinner on reporting; Copper wins for a real 5-30 person sales team. Always flag the contact caps before recommending Basic to any team with an existing contact database.

Editor's curated reviews

335 reviews across TrustPilot - avg 4.3/5

Curated by Otto from TrustPilot public reviews (fetched 2026-08-31). Copper CRM has 335 reviews with a 4.3 average - praise centers on the Google Workspace integration and being lightweight; complaints cluster around auto-renewal billing and fit for verticals (e.g. real estate). G2 and Capterra were consulted for aggregate context but not directly cited here. Not user-submitted on Ottomately.

  • Copper is an extremely convenient program that makes all of our sales information and projects very easy to track, record and monitor.
  • If you're looking for a CRM that just works, Copper is it. Everything about it feels straightforward and well thought out.
  • The team at Copper is amazing. They guided us through data transfer and we are now in better shape than prior.
  • Copper is kind of a sleeper in the CRM space. They are lower priced than many and have really amped up their integrations.
  • A good tool for small-to-mid-sized businesses running Google Docs...helped me manage hundreds of target accounts.
  • We've been Copper customers for more than 5 years and have generally been happy, but were charged for a subscription we never intended to renew.
  • Misleading for Real Estate Agents...the pipeline structure and framework are not designed with real estate transactions in mind.
