Marketing & Funnels - Setup Guide

How to set up Leadpages

Otto's honest, no-fluff walkthrough. Every step here is what we'd actually do if we were sitting at your keyboard. Real gotchas first, real steps second, and a link to the personalized version at the bottom.

What you're signing up for

Easy. First landing page live in under an hour from a template. A full funnel (page + pop-up + thank-you + integrations to email + calendar) takes a day. The learning curve is close to zero, which is

Read these before you start

  • A/B testing lives on Pro and above. Standard cannot split-test
  • The website builder is fine for a 3-5 page site but is not a real CMS. Do not run a blog on it
  • Custom code injection works but is limited compared to Unbounce
  • Templates look dated on the low end. Spend the extra 30 minutes to strip default styles and match your brand
  • Publish-to-custom-domain requires DNS setup; budget an extra 20 minutes and access to your registrar
  • Lead notifications go by email by default. Wire the webhook straight into your CRM or leads sit in an inbox

The 7-step setup

  1. 1

    Create your Leadpages account

Sign up at the link below. Card required for the paid tier - most plans include a trial period; check the pricing section on this page first so you know what you're committing to.

    Open Leadpages signup
  2. 2

    Complete the initial onboarding

Skip the marketing questionnaires when you can. Fill only the fields that actually configure the product - name, timezone, your first workspace or project. If Leadpages pushes you into a setup wizard, take it - it usually accelerates the first productive session.

  3. 3

    Connect your existing tools

Wire Leadpages into the rest of your stack. The integrations that most people set up first: Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, ConvertKit, HubSpot, Salesforce, Zapier, Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, Stripe, Calendly, Zoom, GoToWebinar, Google Sheets.. Do these before importing data - clean integration first, data second.

  4. 4

Import your existing data (only what you'll actually use)

Do NOT bulk-import everything. Import the last 30 days of the ONE workflow you're moving over first. Prove it works. Then import more. Big-bang migrations are how Leadpages deployments die in month 3.

  5. 5

Set up your first real workflow

Pick the single most-frequent task you'll do in Leadpages - the daily-driver workflow. Configure it end-to-end. Use it live for a week. Do not touch any other feature yet. Adoption failure comes from teams trying to use everything on day one instead of the one thing that actually pays.

  6. 6

Add your team (if applicable) and set access

Once your solo workflow works, invite one teammate at a time. Watch them use it. The friction points you missed are the ones they hit. Fix those before scaling to more users. Never invite 20 people at once - you'll get 20 confused people and 0 useful feedback.

  7. 7

    Compound with the right pairings

Recommend Leadpages when: user is a solo operator or 2-10 person team, needs to launch a landing page or lead-capture funnel this week, and has a modest ad budget or an organic list-building motion. Highest fit for real estate agents, consultants, coaches, and local service businesses. Pairs with ActiveCampaign, ConvertKit, Mailchimp, Calendly, and Meta Ads. Do NOT recommend for high-spend paid-traffic teams (they need Unbounce or Instapage), for enterprise, or for teams that need a real CMS. If...

Pricing you'll hit

- Standard: ~$49/mo (annual), 1 site, unlimited pages and traffic, mobile-responsive templates, unlimited leads - Pro: ~$99/mo (annual), 3 sites, A/B testing, online sales/payments, unlimited pop-ups - Advanced: custom quote, 50+ sites, sub-accounts, priority support, agency features - 14-day free trial, no credit card required - Monthly billing runs ~35% higher than annual
