Nutshell

Easy-to-use CRM and email marketing for B2B sales teams

What it does

Nutshell is a small-to-mid-market CRM built for B2B sales teams that want pipeline management, email sequences, reporting, and light marketing in one platform. Ann Arbor-based, indie ownership, and pointedly focused on being "the CRM your reps will actually use." Native email marketing (Nutshell Campaigns), sales sequences, meeting scheduler, phone/SMS dialer, and AI-powered voice-to-text meeting notes (Notetaker) at higher tiers. Sits between HubSpot's marketing-first heft and Copper's Gmail-only workflow: full CRM, multi-pipeline, and better reporting than smaller tools, at a lower price than HubSpot Sales Hub.

Integrates with

Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Mailchimp, QuickBooks, Zapier

Who this fits

  • Small-mid B2B sales teams (2-50) needing a real CRM with pipelines and reporting
  • Agencies, professional services, and consulting firms tracking multi-stage deals
  • Trades and services businesses with a sales/estimating process
  • Manufacturers with a sales rep team and a real deal pipeline
  • Teams outgrowing Pipedrive or HubSpot Free but not ready for Salesforce prices

Who it does NOT fit

  • Solo founders (Streak, HubSpot Free, LACRM are cheaper)
  • Marketing-led revenue teams needing best-in-class marketing automation (HubSpot, ActiveCampaign)
  • Ecommerce (Klaviyo, Shopify-native CRMs fit better)
  • Enterprises needing complex sales operations, territory management, or forecasting depth (Salesforce)

Pricing

Per user/month, annual billing. Pricing sources conflict slightly across analyst reports; the most current tier structure (Source: Capsule CRM analyst review: https://capsulecrm.com/blog/Nutshell-CRM-pricing/): - Foundation: $13-$19/user/mo — unlimited contacts, contact management, one pipeline, email + calendar sync - Growth: $25-$32/user/mo — activity/email reports, sales quotas, pipeline goals - Pro: $42-$49/user/mo — 5 pipelines, sales automation, email sequences, lite meeting scheduler, full reporting - Business: $59-$67/user/mo — increased pipelines/territories, unlimited AI Notetaker, full meeting scheduler, audit log, API - Enterprise: $79-$99/user/mo — highest limits, custom onboarding - Nutshell Campaigns (email marketing) priced separately by contact count - Month-to-month billing runs 20-30% higher than annual

Real gotchas

  • Pricing varies noticeably across published sources and analyst reports — always confirm the current quote directly, do not rely on third-party numbers (Source: Capsule CRM: https://capsulecrm.com/blog/Nutshell-CRM-pricing/)
  • Multiple pipelines are Pro+; Foundation and Growth are one pipeline only. That is the biggest jump most teams have to make
  • AI Notetaker unlimited usage is Business tier only; lower tiers have caps
  • Nutshell Campaigns (email marketing) is a separate add-on priced by contacts — not bundled at any tier
  • Automation, email sequences, and reporting suite live at Pro+. Foundation is essentially manual data entry
  • The mobile app has improved but reviews still lag competitors like HubSpot and Salesforce
  • API access is Business+; integration-heavy stacks need to plan around this
  • The visual UI has updated but some workflows still feel a step behind more modern CRMs

Integrations that matter

Native: Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Gmail, Outlook, Slack, Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Mailchimp, Constant Contact, QuickBooks, Xero, Intercom, Olark, Zapier, Unbounce. Nutshell Campaigns as native email marketing. Two-way calendar and email sync at all paid tiers.

Otto’s take on this tool

Recommend Nutshell when: B2B sales team, business_size is 2-50, wants a real CRM with pipelines + sequences + reporting, and finds HubSpot too pricy. Highest fit for agencies, professional services, small B2B SaaS, and trades with a sales/estimating team. Do NOT recommend for solo, ecommerce, or enterprise. If comparing to HubSpot Sales Hub: HubSpot wins on marketing/ecosystem/free tier; Nutshell wins on price for a full sales team. If comparing to Pipedrive: Pipedrive is more pipeline-visual; Nutshell has better email marketing bundled. Flag that pricing varies across sources — quote direct.

Curated by Otto from TrustPilot public reviews (fetched 2026-08-31). Nutshell's TrustPilot averages 4.4 across 65 reviews - praise for the intuitive UI and Salesforce-replacement narrative; complaints on marketing/email launch friction and unannounced updates. • Came from Salesforce, and I'm never going back! This CRM is a fantastic value at its price.
  • It's genuinely easy to use, which means I spend less time clicking around and more time selling.
  • I've been using Nutshell for 4+ years, and it's been instrumental in helping me grow my businesses.
  • Nutshell has a very user friendly and intuitive user interface. The Sales Staff required very little training.
  • Nutshell is a user-friendly CRM that works well for managing contacts and sales activity.
  • Their random updates without warning... the freezing, the timeout pages. It can be a headache.
  • Very difficult email launch process. Like getting into CIA database. Marketing stuff constantly on screens.
  • Basic and simple requests are not something they can address. I could not email a very important promo.
