Poe
Multi-model AI platform with access to GPT-4, Claude, and more
What it does
Poe (built by Quora) is a multi-model AI aggregator. One subscription puts GPT-4/5, Claude, Gemini, Grok, plus image/video/audio models behind a single chat interface, and it exposes a bot-builder that lets you wrap any of those models in a system prompt and share the resulting bot. The pitch is "one login, all frontier models" so you can A/B two models on the same prompt without paying every vendor separately. Also runs a per-message revenue-share program for creators whose custom bots get used.

Key features
Integrates with
API
Who this fits
- Solo operators and consultants who want frontier-model access without three separate $20/mo bills
- Prompt engineers and researchers comparing model quality on the same task
- Bot builders monetizing niche personas or workflow assistants
- Tinkerers who want to try new models the day they release without setting up API keys
Who it does NOT fit
- Teams that need a shared workspace, org billing, or user roles (Poe is single-account)
- Anyone requiring SOC 2 or enterprise data governance (go direct to Anthropic, OpenAI, Google)
- Users whose entire workflow is inside one model's ecosystem (ChatGPT canvas, Claude Projects, Gemini in Workspace all beat Poe if you only use one vendor)
- Heavy API/programmatic users, Poe is a chat UI, not an API replacement
Pricing
Real gotchas
- Compute-points economy is opaque and shifts. Poe cut the free tier 10x in March 2026 with limited warning, and heavy models can drain a monthly allowance in a few hundred messages ([Poe Purchases FAQs](https://help.poe.com/hc/en-us/articles/19945140063636-Poe-Purchases-FAQs))
- Context windows are shorter than going direct. Poe caps at less than what Claude.ai or ChatGPT give you natively on the same models
- File uploads and multi-modal capabilities lag the native apps by weeks or months
- No team billing, no seat management, no admin console
- Custom bots you build are visible to Poe's marketplace by default, review privacy settings

Otto’s take on this tool
Recommend Poe when: user is a solo/small operator who wants to try 3+ frontier models without paying each vendor $20/mo, or when the use case is prompt/model comparison. Highest fit for consultants, solo founders, and researchers. Do NOT recommend when the user needs a team workspace (send to ChatGPT Team or Claude Team), when they only use one model (send them direct), or when they need API-first access at scale. If the user's primary workflow is inside ChatGPT canvas or Claude Projects, warn that Poe's chat wrapper strips those app-specific features.
