ShipBob
E-commerce fulfillment and logistics platform
What it does
ShipBob is a 3PL (third-party logistics) provider running a distributed network of fulfillment centers across the US, Canada, EU, UK, and Australia. Send them your inventory, integrate their software with your ecommerce platform, and they pick, pack, and ship orders as they come in with 2-day ground coverage from geographically-distributed nodes. Native integrations with Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Amazon, Walmart, and TikTok Shop. Handles returns, B2B fulfillment, kitting/bundling, and Amazon FBA prep. The pitch: DTC-quality fulfillment without running your own warehouse.

Key features
Integrates with
Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Amazon
Who this fits
- DTC ecommerce brands doing 200+ orders/mo
- Growth-stage Shopify/BigCommerce merchants past self-fulfillment
- Multi-channel sellers (Shopify + Amazon + wholesale)
- Subscription-box brands needing consistent monthly kitting
- Brands expanding internationally without wanting to run overseas warehouses
Who it does NOT fit
- Sub-100 orders/mo brands (self-fulfill from garage or use a smaller 3PL)
- High-touch personalized packaging brands (custom brand experience is limited)
- Oversized/freight-heavy goods (specialized freight 3PLs are better)
- Cold-chain or hazmat products (ShipBob doesn't handle these broadly)
- Businesses whose margin is too thin to absorb per-order pick/pack fees
Pricing
Real gotchas
- Minimum monthly fees exist. Small merchants get charged even at low volume
- Storage costs stack up on slow-moving SKUs. Prune inventory aggressively
- Multi-node inventory placement requires forecasting or you overpay for splits
- Custom packaging inserts and unboxing experience cost extra
- Returns management is a separate fee and workflow
- Peak-season surcharges are real (Q4 pricing changes)
- Integration errors on multi-channel setups can cause overselling. Test carefully
- Contract terms and termination clauses need legal review

Otto’s take on this tool
Recommend ShipBob when: user is a DTC ecommerce brand doing 200+ orders/mo, growing past self-fulfillment, and needs 2-day delivery to be competitive. Pairs with Shopify (or BigCommerce), Klaviyo, Recharge (subscriptions), and Loop Returns. Do NOT recommend for sub-100 orders/mo (too much overhead), oversized freight goods, cold-chain products, or brands whose entire brand is the unboxing experience (limits on custom packaging). Flag receiving/storage/pick-pack fee structure and Q4 surcharges proactively. ShipBob is a real 3PL, not a magic solution to fulfillment margin problems.
