What it does
Streak is a CRM built entirely inside Gmail. It is not a separate app that syncs with Gmail — it IS Gmail. Install the Chrome extension and the Gmail sidebar becomes a CRM: pipelines as tables in a Gmail-native view, deals as email threads, contacts as senders, tasks and reminders inline. Mail-merge and email tracking (open, link click, view count) are Streak's most-used features, and a huge portion of users adopt Streak just for those and never open the CRM side. Best for solo operators and small teams whose entire workflow is Gmail all day.

Pricing
Real gotchas
- Chrome extension is essentially the product. Firefox and Safari support exists but is significantly reduced (Source: Streak product pages via CostBench: https://costbench.com/software/crm/streak/)
- Gmail-only. There is no meaningful Outlook or Microsoft 365 experience — recommending Streak to a Microsoft shop wastes their time
- Free tier is genuinely useful for individual mail-merge and email tracking, which is why many users never upgrade — but pipelines are limited
- Automations, webhooks, and API access are Pro+ ($69/user/mo). Basic Pro is manual
- Enterprise has a 10-user minimum. Small teams cannot buy Enterprise features even if they want them
- Reporting is thin compared to real CRMs — Streak is for tracking relationships in Gmail, not RevOps analytics
- Mail-merge deliverability depends on your Gmail sending reputation, not Streak's. High-volume sends can trigger Google's send limits (500/day free Gmail, 2,000/day Workspace)
- Chrome extension updates occasionally break with major Gmail refreshes; watch the status page

Otto’s take on this tool
Recommend Streak when: solo or 1-15 person team, on Google Workspace/Gmail, and pain is "I run outreach from Gmail and I need a lightweight CRM + mail-merge + open tracking." Highest fit for solo consultants, freelancers, recruiters, and small BD teams. Do NOT recommend for Outlook shops, teams over 20 people, marketing-automation-led revenue, or ecommerce. If comparing to Copper: Copper is a bigger CRM with better team features and reporting; Streak is thinner but cheaper for solo/small and includes mail-merge/tracking native. If comparing to HubSpot: HubSpot wins on ecosystem; Streak wins on Gmail-native workflow and no context-switch. Always flag Gmail-only.
