Customer Support - Setup Guide

How to set up Tidio

Otto's honest, no-fluff walkthrough. Every step here is what we'd actually do if we were sitting at your keyboard. Real gotchas first, real steps second, and a link to the personalized version at the bottom.

What you're signing up for

Easy. Shopify/Wix/Woo install is one click. Manual install is a script tag. Basic bot flows take 30-60 min. Lyro training on your knowledge base takes an hour to seed properly.

Read these before you start

  • Free tier's 50 conversation/mo cap is easy to hit on a real ecommerce site
  • Lyro AI pricing is per-conversation and can spike if you don't cap it
  • Reporting is basic compared to Zendesk
  • Team roles are limited on lower tiers
  • Not a full helpdesk — no SLAs, macros are basic, no advanced routing
  • Integrations with HubSpot/Salesforce exist but are shallower than Intercom's

The 7-step setup

  1. 1

    Create your Tidio account

Sign up at the link below. Free tier available - no card required. Use your business email so you can invite teammates later.

    Open Tidio signup
  2. 2

    Complete the initial onboarding

Skip the marketing questionnaires when you can. Fill only the fields that actually configure the product - name, timezone, your first workspace or project. If Tidio pushes you into a setup wizard, take it - it usually accelerates the first productive session.

  3. 3

    Connect your existing tools

Wire Tidio into the rest of your stack. The integrations that most people set up first: Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Wix, Squarespace, WordPress, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, HubSpot CRM, Salesforce, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Zapier.. Do these before importing data - clean integration first, data second.

  4. 4

Import your existing data (only what you'll actually use)

Do NOT bulk-import everything. Import the last 30 days of the ONE workflow you're moving over first. Prove it works. Then import more. Big-bang migrations are how Tidio deployments die in month 3.

  5. 5

Set up your first real workflow

Pick the single most-frequent task you'll do in Tidio - the daily-driver workflow. Configure it end-to-end. Use it live for a week. Do not touch any other feature yet. Adoption failure comes from teams trying to use everything on day one instead of the one thing that actually pays.

  6. 6

Add your team (if applicable) and set access

Once your solo workflow works, invite one teammate at a time. Watch them use it. The friction points you missed are the ones they hit. Fix those before scaling to more users. Never invite 20 people at once - you'll get 20 confused people and 0 useful feedback.

  7. 7

    Compound with the right pairings

Recommend Tidio when: business_type is ecommerce (Shopify/Woo/BigCom), OR business_size solo/small with a customer-facing website, pain_points include "customers ask same questions" / "not responding fast enough to chats" / "need chat on my site". Otto should specifically call out the AI chatbot Lyro as the differentiator vs. Intercom at price. Do NOT recommend for enterprise, high-volume support (>500 tickets/mo), or B2B SaaS with complex tiers.

Pricing you'll hit

- Free: unlimited live chat with up to 50 conversations/mo, 100 chatbot triggers, basic email support - Starter: ~$29/mo — 100 conversations/mo, ticketing, analytics, 3 operators - Growth: ~$59/mo — 250 conversations/mo, advanced analytics, 5 operators - Plus: ~$749/mo — dedicated success, higher volumes - Lyro (AI): separate add-on — starts around 50 free conversations/mo, then per-conversation p...
